Prosser – The War’s not Over Yet

Walking wounded Luke Prosser could be forgiven for wanting a quick end to this season given his headband, the knocks, the mask and everything else he’s suffered so far in the 2013-14 campaign, but the combative defender has said he doesn’t matter how many knocks he takes, as long as our defensive form remains the same until the very last game.

Speaking to the Official Site after a season which has seen stitches above the eye, a fractured cheekbone and even a few concussions because presumably he finds them fun, Prosser said.

‘Ben Clarkson (physio) was going through the knocks I’ve had so far this season and it has been quite a few. Obviously I’ve had the headband on for a while now after the stitches, but I don’t mind wearing that. The defensive form has been great and everyone is throwing their bodies on the line to keep it that way.’

Prosser goes on to say that he doesn’t quite know how the most recent knock he took happened, he just knows he went for a header and by the time he landed something wasn’t quite right, but he managed to play through it and we got the point and then he went and added another one in the game against Newport.

Like Bentley pointed to, Prosser is also focused on the next game and he feels that Mansfield is a winnable encounter for us, but it will be a tough game, and we’ll have to be on it to take what we want which will be the three points.

I guess coming through the match without another knock or injury would be a bonus for him.

Obviously if Prosser does play a role in the game he will be donning the protective mask to ensure his safety when it comes to his cheekbone as he is set for surgery on it later today.

Fingers crossed that goes as well as it possibly can for him.

He’s certainly been in the wars this season. I’m hoping they’ll be his League 2 promotion winning wounds.
