Manager Phil Brown has said that the return of Luke Prosser will be a massive boost for the defence, although he appreciates it’ll take a bit of getting used to when it comes to him wearing the mask over the coming few weeks.

Prosser picked up the injury in the game against Dagenham and Redbridge and he wore the protective mask for the first time in the friendly against West Ham the other day.

Speaking to the Official Site Brown said that unfortunately it’s just something Prosser will have to adjust to because he certainly can’t play with out, but speaking to him from the West Ham match he was saying how uncomfortable and awkward it was, especially when it came to trying to head the ball, but hopefully he’ll adjust to it quickly.

‘We’ve got to try and make it as comfortable as possible. He has put his head in where it hurts a few times this season and he’ll need to carry on doing that. The 45 minutes were good for him after missing the game on Friday, and he should be available for Saturday’s game. A number of players have had to wear them, and it’s all about getting used to it out on the pitch.’

Should Prosser return this weekend, he will be sporting two accessories, both the facemask and the headband, but Brown couldn’t have been more pleased with his progress and his efforts this season so far, saying he’s gone from being ‘a boy to a man.’

So he can’t wait to welcome him back.

Prosser’s become such a key part of the defence. Maybe his mask can become as lucky as his head band l
