Nervously Awaiting O’Neill Results

The full extend of Luke O’Neill’s injury will be known tomorrow, with it hoped that the injury isn’t bad enough to curtail his loan after it started so impressively for Southend against Chesterfield.

Phil Brown has said in his interview with the Echo that he’s hoping that the decision to take him off once he felt the thigh tighten up has done enough to prevent any serious damage as he’d not want to lose the right-back that came in on loan from Burnley as he’d started so impressively.

I’ve already talked about his impact earlier in the week so we don’t need to cover that again but we’ll all be keeping our fingers crossed for positive news when the scan results come through tomorrow.

I think we’ll be lucky to see him fit enough to face Hull City in the FA Cup on Saturday but hopefully it’ll not be serious enough for him to miss any other games of his loan spell.

If O’Neill isn’t fit for the weekend then Adam Thompson is in line to play at right-back on Saturday, as we’ll need Ryan Leonard who is another option in a more effective midfield role against the Premier League side.
