Settled Hurst Wants Southend Stay

Kevan Hurst must feel like he’s in a dream at the moment, it’s not one that the winger will want waking up from though that much is certain.

In the best form of his life, admittedly stated by himself in an interview with the Echo, Hurst scored his 8th goal of a productive season with Southend on Friday night as he earned us a point in the one-all draw with Rochdale.

Hurst knows that the stats prove he’s enjoying a real purple patch in his career and he doesn’t want this to end.

As he, and his family, are now fully settled in the area he’s got no intentions of walking away from Roots Hall anytime soon and if he’s given the chance of signing a new contract, to take him beyond his current one that runs out in the summer, he’ll jump at it.

I know that Phil Brown wants to get players tied down to new contracts if they want to stay, Hurst must almost certainly be one of those that he’ll be talking to pretty soon about this and I think we can safely say that he’ll be signing a contract if it’s put in front of him.

Let’s get this sorted out.

Let’s get this sorted out. Hurst wants to stay and we’ll benefit from this, we can’t afford to risk losing him on a freebie in the summer.
