Christmas With The Southend Family

There’s not much Christmas spirit for Brown at the moment, but I understand where he’s coming from with his Echo interview today.

He talks about having no problems having to go into work on Christmas Day to oversee Southend’s training session before the trip to Wimbledon on Boxing Day. I’m not convinced that he views Christmas Day quite as being the any other day that he says it is but once again I can understand where he’s coming from. When you go down the road of being a professional footballer or get involved in management or coaching you do this on the understanding that it comes with sacrifices, and this includes usually sacrificing Christmas Day, or at least some of it, to go into training.

Christmas is a family time but Southend is a family too and Brown spending time with his second family for a few hours is a sacrifice he’s happy to make.

Southend wont be at Boots & Laces all day though and it’ll still leave plenty of the day to go home and spend some time with loved ones before the Wimbledon game, and we’ve got to be properly prepared for this.
