The Preview: Wimbledon v Southend

If you’re anything like me you’ll be more stuffed than the Christmas turkey was on Boxing Day but it’s probably one of the best days of the year for me, in footballing terms anyway. I love Boxing Day and all the football it brings and we’ll be heading to Wimbledon hoping to get back to winning ways after successive draws.

Bennett could make his return to captain Wimbledon, that’s so long as he overcomes an ankle injury that he’s been carrying recently. Pell’s own knee injury is expected to see him miss out again though but they’ll have Moore back from suspension.

Prosser, who’s been so important for Southend this season and helped to compensate for some defensive losses last summer, has suffered concussion so he might get a day off? Phillips is on standby. Bennett remains a long way from a return after injuring his knee shortly after he signed for Southend.

A point is something I’d accept if that’s all we’ll get, and it’s better than a defeat, but it would be nice if we could have a very productive Christmas to send us into the New Year in high spirits, in more ways that one.
