Striker Lee Barnard has said it’s simply a case of one game at a time for both him, and the club, as we look to seal promotion to League One by the end of the season.

Barnard has now got game time in three matches since he returned to the club, and he’s obviously hoping that he can regain the form that saw him to former glories at Roots Hall, but the 29 year old said to the Official Site.

‘There’s a real positivity about the place, and that’s important. Since I’ve been here it’s been clear that automatic promotion is the main aim and there’s the belief we can achieve that. We have got to take it one game at a time though, we’re all fully focused on Mansfield Town.’

Barnard says that nobody is allowing themselves to look past our very next match because it would affect our focus and there are way too many games left yet for anybody to get carried away and think the hard work has been done, if anything the hard work has only just begun because it’s one thing getting ourselves into this position as we head into the middle of February, it’s another for us to be here come the last game of the season.

‘Anyone can beat anyone in this division but we have to make sure they don’t beat us this weekend.’

On a personal note the striker goes on to say that he’s looking forward to finding the net for the first time since his return and he would love it to be in our next game to give us a head start on the way to another win and all three points, which is the aim, but if it doesn’t and he’s selected then he knows he has to do a job for the team and contribute that way.
