No Clifford Appeal

Phil Brown might have admitted that he didn’t agree with the decision to send Conor Clifford off against Mansfield, in our two-one defeat, but he’s confirmed with his interview in the Echo that he doesn’t plan to appeal the decision.

The referee, as well as many Southend players, felt the full force of Brown’s frustration in the immediate aftermath of the defeat and he’s a little sorry for that as he spoke about appreciating that referees have a tough job but still doesn’t think that Clifford deserved to see red.

Having reviewed the footage this view hasn’t changed but with an appeal unlikely to be successful he’s decided against lodging an appeal to the FA meaning we’ll be without the midfielder until the start of next month.
