Grays Take Chambers

Brown has decided that Chambers having sometime away from Southend, at Grays Athletic, would be the best thing for the goalkeeper. I’d think that it makes sense really as the 19 year old isn’t going to be dislodging Bentley anytime soon and even if he’s not at his best anymore Smith is the experienced deputy that we need at the moment.

Chambers did get himself onto the Southend bench a few times last season but isn’t anywhere near it this season so this month with Grays Athletic will benefit him, like his previous loans with Concord Rangers and Bishop’s Stortford would have.

Bentley’s going to be the long term for Southend, all the while we are able to keep him, but Chambers will be Smith’s eventually successor as the number two and the Welsh youth international needs to be playing some football and will enjoy his time out on loan as well as benefit from it.
