Brown: Not At All Happy

Southend made sure that defeat was avoided at Accrington Stanley on Sunday, with Prosser equalising Phillips’ earlier own goal, but Brown wasn’t happy with that outcome at all.

You go into every game looking to win and as Sunday was no different Brown was unhappy that we didn’t come away with all three points and was also unhappy at the performance the players offered up, which he told the media in his post match conference, wasn’t good enough.

The level of the ambition that Southend have, as does Brown himself, was the main reason he wasn’t happy with the point. At the same time he did go onto admit that as Accrington is a difficult place to go, and they’re in good form, it could be a point won at the end of the season. He at least hopes so.

I wanted all three, I can understand what Brown’s saying, but I’d also said I’d not be unhappy with a point before the game and as we got this having come from behind I’m content. I think Brown might be a little more than he’s letting on too.

We did miss some very good chances though, or was it that their goalkeeper made very good saves? His man of the match award would suggest it was very good saves.
