A round up of the Blues most recent departed, how are they faring at present? We`ll see shall we……?

Steve Collis – Crewe Alexandra

The shot stopper who could argue he was unlucky to be at Southend during a time when Darryl Flahaven was playing at close to his best has found himself down on the pecking order recently – John Ruddy now seems to be first choice as Collis hasn’t featured since the 3-2 defeat against Millwall in the FA Cup back in January.

Oh how much Collis would hope for a re-call on Tuesday night when Crewe comes to Roots Hall, I am sure he would be given a warm welcome…

Darryl Flahavan – Crystal Palace

Darryl has played only 3 times for Palace since a summer move from Southend, this must be a real disappointment for the much loved keeper, I am surprised he hasn’t looked to move on having been used to first team affairs with the Blues, turning out over 300 times for us.

Charlie MacDonald – Brentford

Charlie has been nothing short of prolific in his time at the Bee’s, 14 Goals from 30 league games is the kind of form that he never showed with Southend, maybe the drop down to League 2 has helped.

Gary Hooper – Scunthorpe Utd

Gary is really enjoying himself in the Irons 08/09 season, another summer move – this time we got some cash! 16 Goals from 29 appearances have seen Scunthorpe gallop into the League One play off places, personally I’d rather give back the money and have Hoops back at the club!

Lewis Hunt – Wycombe Wanderers

The Peter Taylor connection saw Lewis join up with Matt Harrold, the ex Southend utility player has featured 11 times for Wycombe this term, not a regular – however more games than he could have expected with Southend.

Kevin Maher – Oldham Athletic

Captain marvel or other superlatives that the Southend fans could care to mention, another being legend has enjoyed himself up in Oldham this year, not played every game however will have the bragging rights thus far, featuring in a 2-1 reverse in his return to Roots Hall back in November, Still some talk of a ‘benefit’ game for King Kev, maybe a first game at Fossetts?

Nicky Bailey – Charlton Athletic

Midfield maestro was a firm favourite at his time with Southend – since leaving and in particular the way he left a lot of fans have spoken badly of Bailey. Cracking start to his career at the Valley with a blinder of a free-kick in his 5th game may live to regret a move away from the Hall as Charlton seem destined to be relegated this season.

Matt Harrold – Wycombe Wanderers, part 2!

Prince harry has done well for himself, some people he would never make it – Peter Taylor has gotten the best out of the royal look-alike with a return of 9 from only 24 League 2 games this season. Shame that for Southend he only managed 3 goals from 52 appearances, however over half were as sub!
Maybe we could see him back at the Hall next year when Wycombe get promoted?

Richie Foran – Inverness Caledonian Thistle

Richie must have the best back cream on record, left Southend injured and then played within a couple of days for Caley Thistle – the first Terry Butcher signing for the Scottish Premier Div outfit. There are many rumours as to why Richie didn’t feature many times for Southend – but with the club staying tight lipped I am sure we will never really know!

Liked Steve Collis and Flahavan. Think Mccormack is key for you guys. Let’s not talk about Kevin Maher…
