News coming out of Roots Hall ticket office today is that the allocation for the Colchester game on Saturday have now all been sold.
We will of course be the first club to fill the away end, let`s hope that the Colchester lads and lasses do the same thing and help to create a cracking derby day atmosphere.
The first encounter saw both sides share a 6 goal thriller at Roots Hall on a very wet day at the seaside in November, I can vouch for that as my son and I got drenched in the first row in the West Stand!
Southend took a very quick advantage with 2 early goals courtesy of Clarke & Laurent, and then Colchester came back into the game and managed to make the score 2:1 at half time.
To be fair Colchester came out much the stronger after the half time oranges and took the game to Southend, a couple of inspired substitutions by Colchester saw them go into a 3:2 lead.
Southend were running out of time and ideas and then literally the last kick (was it a kick?) of the game saw Christophe claim the equaliser.
This immediately stopped the chants of the Col U fans who were singing 2 nil and you messed it up – or words to that effect!
Felt like a win in the end…Let’s hope we can do the job properly at stadium Airfix on Saturday!
