Blackpool is where Southend United will be heading to tomorrow in the next round of the Carling Cup!

The Southend faithfull have a long journey in front of them, 272 miles by road to be exact before they arrive at the home of Blackpool F.C Bloomfield Road

The Seasiders / Tangerines were founded in 1887 and have had an illustrious past including winning the final of the F.A.Cup in 1953 which later was to be known as the Matthews Final.

Some of the other greats (too many to mention) to have played at Blackpool are Stan Mortensen, Jimmy Arnfield, Allan Brown, Alan Ball and Ray Charnley.

Blackpool head in to the game 9th in the Championship and will be a difficult opponent for the Shrimpers.
The Tangerines overcame Premier League new boys Derby County in the last round whilst Southend beat Watford at Roots Hall.

Blackpool’s Ian Evatt will most likely be ruled out of tomorrows game along with Forbes.

Southend have new hitman Leon Clarke cup-tied so it will be up to Harrold,MacDonald and Co to get on to the score sheet.

A special mention for Peter Clarke tomorrow as he travels back to the club where he made 84 appearances before (also some on loan back in 2002) heading to Southend and judging from what I have heard he will get a very good reception at Bloomfield Road.
