Manager Phil Brown has credited the work ethic of the team following the one nil victory over Shrewsbury Town because not only was it a deserved three points for him, it was also a very hard earnt three points.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game Brown explained that he was delighted to have seen us pick up the victory and go four wins on the bounce, especially as it wasn’t a great or pretty performance.

‘The sign of a good side is one that doesn’t play well but gets results and that was us, we didn’t play well. The team deserves credit, they worked very hard. We scored so early and it put their team on the back foot. Micky Mellon’s a tactician and he had to do it early on. With Micky changing his tactics, I had to do the same. We could have got a second goal to make it comfortable but we didn’t. However, I’m delighted for them because a 1-0 win means the mentality is very good in there.’

Brown goes on to say that it was a ‘real tough struggle’ for the lads because Shrewsbury have strengthened immensely well over the summer following their relegation from League 1 and they are one of the favourites to go up, so a victory over them shouldn’t be sniffed at at all.

With Morecambe up next, Brown also said the confidence boost for Coulthirst in getting the goal and staying on for the 90 minutes should do the lad the world of good now also.
