Ryan Leonard is making quicker than expected progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury, such a recovery that he’s looking at coming back ahead of schedule. Phil Brown has said in his interview with the Echo that he could be fit for the weekend.

The midfielder, fortunately we’ve got results during his absence, is now back in full training after some light sessions recently and this leaves Brown confident that with ‘three or four good days’ training he expects him to be fit and available to return on Saturday.

Even if Leonard, as expected, is fit enough to return on Saturday with Gary Deegan, Conor Clifford and Jack Payne all performing very well this season, no to mention Will Atkinson also battling for a place, an instant return to the starting XI isn’t assured.

Brown could be facing a selection headache, but of a good kind that he’s welcoming having.
