Southend manager Steve Tilson has complained about being asked to play four games in quick succession over the Christmas period.
He reckons that the Shrimpers should play against nearer teams, and be able to strengthen the swuad.
He told,i> BBC Radio Essex: ‘They’re asking us to play those games when we can’t bring anyone in (because of the transfer window) and I’ve got 15 fit players.
‘We’ve got to go to Hartlepool and Blackpool – when we’ve got clubs like Colchester and Brentford in our league.
‘We haven’t even played Brentford yet, so surely it makes sense if you play your local teams over Christmas?’
