Team news ahead of tomorrows game

Vital Quotes:

Speaking on World TV, Steve Tilson:-
‘We have eight matches to go and every one of them is a Cup Final to us, whether we are playing Hartlepool or Swansea. Each one will be difficult in its own way but we have to go out and play without any fear and give it a go, you can’t ask for more than that.’

Paul Stephenson speaking with the official Harletpool website:-
‘Anybody can beat anybody in this league – we proved that by bearing Huddersfield convincingly. We’ll go to Southend with nothing but confidence and make sure we compete for every tackle – then, when we get the ball, we must make good use of it.’

Southend Team News:

Spencer Prior seems to have aggravated his knee ligament injury he got from Walsall a month or so ago, and is waiting for his MRI scan results. Meanwhile, Mitchell Cole is available for selection, along with Kevin Maher (stomach virus), and James Lawson (viral infection).

New centre half Ipswich loan signing Gerard Nash may find himself thrown in at the deep end.

Player to watch: Freddy Eastwood

Freddy has been a little quiet in the last couple of games and will be keen to get on the score sheet to keep his goal tally up.

Hartlepool Team News:

Thomas Butler who has a hamstring injury and hugh Robertson who has a knee injury, are unlikely to be available in the line up for tomorrow, although they had a run out in this weeks reserves fixture against Sheffield United ‘B’. James Brown also managed a run out but is still not available due to not being match fit yet.

Anthony Sweeney (groin) may be unavailable, while Gavin Strachan (leg gracture) and Jim Provett (ankle) are both missing out.

Player to watch: Eifion Williams

Now the leading goal scorer for Hartlepool, Southend will have to watch out.

I’m suprised you’ve got Eifion Williams as the man to watch based on him being our top scorer. He is mainly our top scorer as Boyd (5 months) and Porter (almost 10 months) have been out. Together they scored over 50 goals last season. They came back a few weeks ago and have since been gradually knocking them in. Indeed Porter scored after 9 mins of his return in the 3-1 win over Huddersfield. Boyd also notched in that game…
