Southend are set to take on Blackpool tomorrow in what will be one of the key deciders if Southend are to get automatic promotion this season. Blackpool are without their top scorer after being injured last weekend

Vital Quotes:

Tilson speaking with Blues World:-
‘Both Blackpool and Gillingham are fighting to stay in this division but both to be fair to them are on decent runs so it won’t be easy. Blackpool’s current form has been decent but we have got four home games and hopefully we can get enough points to gain promotion.’

Southend Team News:

Southend have a few defence injury problems ahead of tomorrows game. Efe Sodje and Spencer Prior have been ruled out until the end of the season, which gives Lewis Hunt a chance to prove himself once more in defence. Lee Bradbury played in the reserves game on Tuesday and is set to be called up. No other injury problems have been reported, so Eastwood and Goater will be keen to get the three points in the bag.

Player to watch: Feddy Eastwood

Freddy needs to be on top form tomorrow, and fingers crossed he can finish the ball off to help Southend get the points needed to extend the gap at the top of Division One.

Blackpool Team News:

Top scorer Murphy is set to miss out due to pulling a hamstring last weekend against Walsall. Midfielder Keith Lasley is still struggling with a foot injury and loanee Colchester player Sam Stockley is out with a calf strain. Also watching will include long term injury players Danny Coid and Phil Doughty.

Player to watch: Keith Southern

Southern seems to be on form at the moment, scoring against Walsall last weekend and being included in League One team of the week. He is going to have to keep the referee sweet though as another booking tomorrow will mean a suspension coming his way.

  • The Gaffer says:

Not playing too bad at all really, had a few goals a couple of months ago, but has been setting them up nicely for Eastwood to finish them off, should be an interesting game today. Would be good for him to finish his career with promotion :o)
