Southend’s League 1 season continues against Walsall at Roots Hall on Saturday; with this a 3pm kick-off.
A first home game back in League 1 awaits Southend as they look to bounce back from an injury-time exit in the Capital One Cup when Brighton literally snatched victory at Roots Hall in midweek.
The Shrimpers gained a late point at Fleetwood last Saturday and will be looking for a first three-point return against Walsall, however the Saddlers knocked out Nottingham Forest with a four-three League Cup win of their own on Tuesday to add to a draw with Oldham last time round.
