I find it quite remarkable that a Southend player didn’t know he was only one card away from a ban – obviously you can’t help a miss-timed tackle but maybe knowing would stop some of the dissent?
My question to Barney is that if he had known would he have still complained about where the position of the late Free Kick against Scunthorpe was being taken from?
“I didn`t know I was one booking away from a ban but I don`t really know why I was booked,” said the Southend striker.
Lee went on to say, “But the referee blew even before their defender had got anywhere near me.’
“Then the goalkeeper took the free-kick about 15 yards away from where it happened, yet I was booked for dissent, it was very poor.’, talking to the Echo
The former Crewe loanee has been feeling frustrated of late in his cameo role having come off the bench in 7 of the last 8 games.

“It`s hard just coming on for 15 or 20 minutes ? so I`m hoping I will get more a chance tomorrow,” added Barnard.
With all of the injuries Southend have picked up this season we need to make sure that players don’t pick up silly bans, Lee this one perhaps could and should have been avoided – particularly when you consider that Alex Revell, Francis Laurent, James Walker and of course Dougie Freedman are missing right now!
