That club source at Southend has been busy again, with them telling The Echo on Tuesday that the majority of the Southend squad still hadn’t been paid May’s wages.

The Echo went to print on Tuesday with a “source close to the club” having been quoted as saying: ‘Most of the players and staff are still to be paid their money for May.

‘It’s not the first time this has happened but it certainly doesn’t help anyone that it’s happened again at the time of year when some players are thinking about their futures and where they want to be playing next season.

‘One or two have been paid their wages but they’re certainly in the minority and, as you would imagine, it’s caused some unrest among the players because they’re 10 days late now.’

No comment from the club has been forthcoming at this time.

Assuming this is correct you would have to worry that players that might have been keen at staying at Roots Hall might now be put off by this and decide to look elsewhere to ensure the wages come through when they should!
