Gavin Tomlin could be on his way back to Southend after just one, mixed, season away from Roots Hall.

Tomlin exercised his right to move on a year ago when his contract with Southend came to an end to join Port Vale in League 1 on a Bosman free transfer but after just 17 starts, in the league, for them and scoring only five goals it looks as though the 31 year old will be moving on again.

Phil Brown has admitted in an interview that he’s ‘certainly someone he’d like to sign’ and has confirmed an interest in bringing him back with him also saying that the forward has been keeping in regular contact with many at the club anyway.

I, like Brown, feel that perhaps Tomlin, who is reported as struggling to settle in a new area, was a little hasty in moving on.

The grass isn’t always greener is it!

It looks like Tomlin could well become one of the half a dozen or so signings that Brown wants this summer, depending on the costs involved I’m not opposed to the idea.
