Michael Timlin, by his own admission, has had some ‘ups and down’ with Southend but the former Swindon man, and Fulham youngster, should make his 150th appearance for us tonight.

These appearances, spread over a loan spell from Southend before his permanent arrival in 2012, have come over a period that has seen him restricted at times by injuries and of course a spell he spent in prison….

He’s acknowledged that, with what he’s told the Echo, and also concedes that he can ‘frustrate’ the fans at times but loves it at the club and is very proud to be on the verge of his 150th appearance, which he wants to celebrate with a win.

‘I genuinely enjoy playing for this football club and I’m very proud to be making my 150th appearance.

‘There have been a few ups and downs for me during my time here. I’ve had a couple of injuries and been sent to prison but the fans have been good to me.

‘I know they get frustrated with me at times but I would like to think I have a good relationship with them and hopefully we can all put in a good performance tonight to get the right result.’

Ideally you’ll play a key part in a win tonight Michael, but the main thing is that we get the points against Cheltenham at Roots Hall, where the form hasn’t been good enough – another acknowledgment that the 29-year-old made.

More performances, and results, like the ones we get away from home where our form is the best in the league, is what he went on to say he wanted, we all do.

Again, a good starting point would be tonight in a tricky fixture, which is by no means a foregone conclusion that we’ll win….
