At times you have to accept that things are the way that they are and that’s that, it’ll not change.

Freddy Eastwood has been troubled by a knee injury this season, this had seen him sidelined for nearly two-months before he made his Southend return on Saturday in the defeat at Torquay.

Eastwood might now be declared “fully fit” but technically he’ll never be 100% again, and he knows as much.

The crowd favourite admitted that he’s now at the stage of his career where it’ll be difficult to recover fully from injuries, particularly this knee injury so it’s more about managing the condition these days.

He shared his thoughts with the Echo today and he’ll manage this by having to miss the odd training session on the pitch, and will instead spend time in the gym or the swimming pool to make sure he’s fit enough for games.

In an ideal world this isn’t the way the 30-year-old would want it at all, but he and the medical team, coaches and manager know that this is the only way forward, and in the long term will be more beneficial for all concerned.
