Southend turned in a fine performance against a League 2 promotion rival on Monday now we’ve got to turn in another against Torquay United who are at the other end of the scale. The Devon side are virtually relegated it seems, that’s not to say we’ll have it easy at Roots Hall on Saturday but we’ve got to target this as a three points game.

Jacob Murphy became the latest loanee from Norwich when the winger joined us on loan with Phil Brown looking as though he could give him a debut with Jamar Loza almost certain to keep his place after a man of the match performance against Oxford. Barry Corr will complete his suspension with Adam Thompson again an injury doubt.

Baily Cargill joined Torquay on loan carrying a minor injury so this could mean his debut will have to wait. Enoch Showunmi’s loan expired in midweek and he’s moved on with Joss Labadie and Shamir Goodwin both suspended.

Six points is a gap that Torquay could make up but coming to face us having to win they’ll have to attack and that could work into our hands nicely with some speedy players catching them on the break.

Oxford is the benchmark for us for the remainder of the season, if we keep playing like that we’ll collect win that can hopefully be enough to see us over the line into the League 2 play offs.
