The Preview: Southend v Shrewsbury

Winning becomes a habit doesn’t it and Southend have found that habit of late with the latest League 2 game coming at Roots Hall on Saturday with Shrewsbury Town the visiting side.

After injuries we could have Cian Bolger and Ryan Leonard available again, the more likely being Bolger. Barry Corr came back against York City last weekend, he didn’t get on but he’ll be involved again and could come back in as a starter. Ben Coker could soon be back in full training.

Shrewsbury’s captain Liam Lawrence could keep his place after returning for a first time since a sending off last month when he played as his side caused a League Cup upset on Tuesday. Cameron Gayle is another that came back for that, after injury, but Andy Robinson is doubtful.

Phil Brown feels that Shrewsbury might have an eye on the League Cup, which has impacted on their League 2 form, so he’s hoping we can capitalise on this and I’m hopeful that we can as another win would see confidence grow even more.
