Southend strengthened a League 2 play off place with an impressive three-nil win at Rochdale on Good Friday with us back at Roots Hall on Monday.

Easter Monday, with our home return, will hopefully be a better game and result against Accrington Stanley than our previous game at home.

Phil Brown doesn’t have to worry about any fresh absentees.

Jacob Murphy celebrated his first start for us with a fine performance, and a goal, and the Norwich loanee looks set to make his first home start for us with Kevan Hurst in line for his 100th appearance for us.

Kai Naismith returned from injury to play a part from the bench of Friday and could start on Monday with Laurence Wilson and Marcus Carver likely to miss out through injury.

The only defeat we’ve suffered in our last eight games came in our last game at Roots Hall.

It’ll be good to see how we react in what should be an interesting game as Accrington know that a win will keep them in League 2 but we also know that victory for us will move us a step forward to secure our chance of getting into League 1 via the play offs.
