Southend ended a 41 month wait for a midweek win at Roots Hall when we beat Cheltenham on Tuesday, we’re looking for a sixth successive cleansheet at home against Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

A ten game unbeaten run is what we’re looking to extend on Saturday but we might have to do this without Ben Coker and Adam Thompson, both are injury doubts. Kevan Hurst will be looking to get back into the starting XI after coming off the bench on Tuesday after missing out all together on Saturday. Mads Ibenfeldt continues to be our only confirmed major absentee.

Accrington had lost five in a row before the win over Oxford on Tuesday and without any new concerns the same squad should be named as they look to upset us. James Gray rejected a loan move to Non League side Southport on Thursday so could come back into contention, he’s their joint top goalscorer.

It’s difficult not to start expecting wins but isn’t this a game that we’ll be expecting to win? It’s one we could do with winning but have to guard against complacency.
