The FA Cup dream for Southend ended on Saturday with Premier League side Hull City proving too strong in the end, so it’s now full focus on the League 2 season with us off to Dagenham & Redbridge tonight.

Dagenham could start Luke Norris, signed on loan from Brentford last week, after he scored from the bench in a thrilling three-three draw with League 2 leaders Scunthorpe on Saturday. Billy Bingham and Jordan Seabright were on the bench when returned from injuries and should be involved again. Anthony Edgar left Dagenham on Monday and Matt Saunders is struggling.

Not the first player to do this in the past twelve to eighteen months, Lee Barnard could make a ‘second debut’ for us tonight after coming back to Southend on loan from Southampton until the end of the season. Adam Thompson will continue to fill in for Luke O’Neill, who had been brought in to fill in for John White, at right back.

We’re in good form and we shouldn’t have lost too much confidence from the Hull defeat and might have even gained more, with Scunthorpe and Fleetwood drawing on Monday we know that victory could move us right back into the automatic promotion mix.
