In their last game Southend were unlucky not to get anything, however on Saturday Paul Sturrock admitted that his side were lucky to get a 2-2 draw with Barnet at Roots Hall.

At two-nil down The Shrimpers looked dead and buried but a late goal completed a comeback and saw them share the points.

Sturrock wasn’t happy but took the “only positive” of defeat being avoided: ‘We were lucky to get a point out there.

‘Our shape went out the window, our decision making was poor and people were doing what they wanted out there instead of what they were being told to do.

‘The tempo was poor as well because we should have been up and at them from the start but that wasn’t the case and the only positive is that we haven’t lost the game.’
