Southend are bracing themselves for a fifth winding up petition in four-years.

Unpaid taxes to HMRC has seen the club set a date of Monday 18th March to appear in the High Court, with The Shrimpers last fighting off a winding-up petition two-years ago.

Chairman Ron Martin, as he told BBC Essex, does not feel there is need for concern, he said: ‘the tax bill will be dealt with in the normal order of business and that it should be of no concern to the club.’

Martin will have to be taken at his word, however the threat to a clubs existence is never something that fans are able to be “unconcerned about” is it!
