Southend United are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected following the clash with Peterborough United.

The performance by goalkeeper Mark Oxley in the one nil victory over Peterborough United at the weekend at London Road was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Oxley was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Oxley played a vital part in Southend`s success, producing a string of fine saves to preserve a clean sheet and help earn his side maximum points.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Oxley for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Mark Oxley (Southend United), Joel Lynch (Queens Park Rangers), Sonny Bradley (Plymouth Argyle), Nathan Smith (Yeovil Town), Junior Hoilett (Cardiff City), Elliott Hewitt (Notts County), Jota (Birmingham City), Tom Huddlestone (Derby County), Sean McConville (Accrington Stanley), Sammy Ameobi (Bolton Wanderers), Ivan Cavaleiro (Wolverhampton Wanderers).
