One Of Those Nights For Brown

Manager Phil Brown has admitted his frustration following ‘one of those nights’ in the game against Wimbledon yesterday evening.

A solitary freekick won our visiting opponents the game, and we really we should’ve come out of it with at least a draw to show for our efforts.

Speaking to the Official Site following the match Brown said it was only the scoreline he was actually disappointed with because his thought we put in a good performances and could take plenty of positives from the showing.

‘It’s one of those games where the fans are walking away wondering how we’ve lost, and that’s the feeling the whole squad share. But there were plenty of positives to take. We played some good football and created so many chances throughout the game.’

Brown goes on to say that the first goal was always going to be important and we had the chances to get that and then some in the first period of the game, so in some ways we were unlucky not to have got ourselves ahead but their goalkeeper had one of those nights as well.

‘Even once they had gone ahead, the lads didn’t hide, they kept playing and we created another three or four clean cut chances. The players gave it everything and the performance was there. Unfortunately the finishing wasn’t on the night, but we can’t be too down at this stage.’

One of the reasons for Brown’s positivity following the game is that he knows if we perform like that and throw the proverbial kitchen sink at sides like that we will end up hammering somebody more often than we fail to score, but sometimes this does happen in the game.
