With only one new face brought into Southend since the end of last season, Steve Tilson is still waiting to hear from a few players regarding a move to Roots Hall.
Steve Collis joined the Shrimpers last week, and rumours have linked Steve Tilson to various players including Andy Morrell from Coventry City and Matt Harrold from Yeovil Town. Rumour also had it that Barry Hayles from Millwall was on the hit list but Tilson denied reports.
Speaking with the Official Southend United Website, Tilson said:-
‘We have spoken with a lot of people but it’s just a question of agreeing terms with them at the moment. Hopefully there will be more good news later this week but these things are never certain because you don’t know what is going to happen and I don’t want to get people’s hopes up.’
Current Southend players are still yet to sign their extensions including Spencer Prior and Wayne Gray who have been offered 12-month contracts. Kevin Maher, Lewis Hunt and Lee Bradbury have all been offered two-year deals.
