Bilel Mohsni is, yet again, standing on the verge of leaving Southend.

The fiery Frenchman made his return to The Shrimpers first in February when a series of injuries and suspensions saw former boss Paul Sturrock recall the versatile player who marked his return with a red card!

As long ago as last summer the 25-year-old was expected to exit Southend and has said at the time he would never play for the club again. West Ham took him on trial and wanted to sign him but couldn’t agree a fee. He then had trials with Birmingham and Ipswich, eventually signing for the latter on loan until January but they didn’t take up an option to sign him.

A poor showing in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy saw him dropped for the resulting games and Phil Brown spoke last week of the need to “hold talks” with him. Following this it’s being reported by The Echo that Mohsni has played his last game for the club and his departure will be confirmed any day now.
