Southend have confirmed that we have now received full clearance to complete the move for Bedsente Gomis.

The 25 year old midfielder has been on trial at the club for quite a while, and despite having his permanent move to us sanctioned by the Football League back in December of last year but has been held up owing to a complication with his international clearance because his last club was in Spain.

The Senegal born player has now put pen to paper on a deal until the end of the season, with the option of a further year and he told the Official Site that he couldn’t wait to really get going at the club now that deal was done.

‘I’m really pleased to have finally signed and I can’t wait to play my first competitive game. I have really enjoyed the training so far.’

Manager Phil Brown obviously expressed relief at finally being able to consider him for the game against Millwall today because he admits himself it’s been a long process and the club have had to jump through a number of hoops although one benefit possibly of having to wait this long is that he’s had time to start learning the language, and settle in nicely with the team through training so hopefully he’ll be able to hit the ground running now.

He has been handed the No 29 shirt for the season and will be hoping to get on the pitch as soon as he can now the deal is ‘official’.

It’s taken a while to get it over the line but he shouldn’t take long to get up and running as he’s been training with us for months.
