22 year old midfielder Ryan Leonard has said Southend need to treat our Wembley Play Off Final as just a ‘normal game’ this weekend.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the game on Saturday, Leonard explained that whilst a trip to the national stadium is to be enjoyed, it’s about putting in a performance on the day and getting the result we want to put ourselves into League One in 2015-16.

‘It’s a nice thing to get to Wembley and we need to concentrate on what is a massive game. We need to stay focussed and make sure we play well because promotion to League One is on offer. It’ll be massive. The whole reason you get into football is to play in occasions like the one we’ll be in on Saturday. We bounced back from the disappointment at Wembley and want to repay the faith after the fantastic support the fans have given us over the season and win the game.’

With Leonard getting us back in the game against Stevenage at the semi final stage, he went on to talk about his celebration to the goal.

‘It was a bit of a mess around to be honest! Me, Will Atkinson and Barry Corr all live together and watched quite a bit of the World Snooker Championships and were supporting Stuart Bingham. We knew he was at the game and we said whoever scores does the celebration for him, because we knew he was at Roots Hall watching us!’

Going back to the forthcoming game, he added.

‘It’s a big Club for the league we’re in and we want to get the result the fans deserve. We’ll do our very best on Saturday. We know it’ll be a tight affair but we need to play like we’ve done all season. We need to treat it like a normal game and go and win.’
