Southend come up against Brighton in the Capital One Cup at Roots Hall tonight, in a game that will kick-off 7:45pm.

Phil Brown saw his side come from behind to get a late goal to start the League 1 season with a draw, the Shrimpers take a break from the league season for the League Cup and almost have a nothing to lose tie against Brighton.

The Championship side will be favourites but that didn’t stop Southend from winning the last League Cup meeting in the 2006/07 season when the Shrimpers won three-two….a worrying stats though is the away side has won on each of the last four-matches played competitively between the sides!

Brown will definitely want to get into round two, and it’ll be hoped this happens with a positive result achieved, but will this be the case for the Blues?
