He might have scored the goal that ensured Southend are going to Wembley in April but it’s unsure if Ben Reeves will be able to play his part in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final?

Reeves’ loan spell from Southampton ends next month and although he would like to stay, as he told BBC Look East, and play his part he knows it’s not down to him.

He said: ‘I’m not sure yet.

‘I’m not sure if that’s down to me. I’ll have to wait and see. I want to play at Wembley.’

The midfielder has featured 13 times for The Saints, including a few appearances for the Premier League side this season.

An extended loan spell is something that Paul Sturrock is looking to work out with the parent club of Reeves with it likely that this can be arranged should the 21-year-old not be in their plans for the remainder of the season?
