We look as though Jakub Sokolik and John Egan will both be lost to other clubs next season with Southend returns for either looking unlikely, when previously Phil Brown was extremely confident on the signing of Sokolik. He was almost certain that the former Liverpool defender would make his loan from last season into a permanent one.

Both Sokolik and Egan have interest from clubs playing at a higher level than our League 2 status.

This now looking as though it’ll work against us but in Friday’s interview with the Echo even though he admitted that agents had told him that offers had come in from other clubs at higher levels, so they weren’t going to sign for us, as they’ve not yet officially joined another club the ‘door’s still open’ for both to come back if they want.

League 1 side Yeovil Town have been linked with Sokolik but have denied that a deal has been agreed. I’d given up hope on Egan, who looks like going to Blackburn Rovers in the Championship, but was hopeful on Sokolik but don’t expect either at Roots Hall next season now if I was completely honest.
