Southend’s League 1 season continued, with the weekend defeat put behind them, with a draw against Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium on Wednesday.

A first win since promotion is something Southend are still in search of following a nil-nil draw with Doncaster, who saw keeper ‘Stuckmann deny the Blues’ Worrall and Timlin, who went closes for Brown’s boys.

These were the match highlights.

You can see more like this on Southend United Football Club.

The other results this midweek were as follows:-

Tuesday 18th August
Peterboro 1-3 Sheff Utd
Blackpool 1-2 Burton Alb
Bradford 1-2 Gillingham
Bury 3-4 Fleetwood
Colchester 0-0 Oldham
Coventry 3-2 Crewe
Millwall 2-3 Barnsley
Rochdale 1-2 Walsall
Shrewsbury 1-2 Chesterfld
Swindon 2-2 Port Vale

Wednesday 19th August
Doncaster 0-0 Southend
Wigan 3-0 Scunthorpe

Looking at these results the stand out ones have to be the wins for Fleetwood, Walsall and Wigan?

You’ll never be able to go far wrong, unless on the wrong side of it of course – or a neutral – in a seven-goal thriller will you! So Fleetwood winning four-three, impressive enough in it’s own right, in a topsy turvy game with Bury at Gigg Lane stands out.

Rochdale, previously unbeaten, losing at Spotland to Walsall is a good result, a two-one win for the travelling Saddlers would make a return journey pleasing!

As for Wigan, they’ve had it hard the past few years since the glory of winning the FA Cup! However even that came in the Premier League relegation season. They got the season up and running with an emphatic three-nil win over Mark Robins’ Scunthorpe at the DW Stadium.

Who was the Southend Man of the Match in this game? That’s what the latest poll is asking so do cast a vote.

Did a starter, or someone from the bench, offer the most in this nil-nil draw at Donny?

Select the Blues name you want from the list in the poll to your right, we’re also looking for your thoughts and views too so do share some of those with your comments below.

The Shrimpers are back in action this weekend with a League 1 game against Swindon at Roots Hall.
