Southend are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after the most recent action.

The performance by Ben Coker in Southend’s two one victory over Scunthorpe United at the weekend at Roots Hall was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Coker was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Coker created one goal and scored another as Southend fought back from a goal down to beat Scunthorpe United 2-1 in Sky Bet League 1. The left-back teed up Michael Timlin to level the scores, before securing the three points with a low drive in the second half.’

It’s always good to see us represented in this way, and well played to Coker for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the three points.

Full Team:

Roche (Morecambe), Coker (Southend), Husband (Fulham), Rawson (Rotherham), Dunk (Cambridge), Ince (Derby), Cole (Shrewsbury), Harriott (Colchester), Gash (Barnet), Clarke (Bury), Marriott (Luton).

Manager – Westley (Peterborough).
