Today’s game at Gigg Lane against Bury was abandoned after only six minutes as torrential rain led to a waterlogged pitch.

The referee opted to start the game despite their being large rain puddles on the pitch, but the players were sent to the dressing room as conditions didn’t improve and in fact got worse.

Having given a bit more time to see if the rain would stop, the referee deemed the pitch unplayable and the match was officially cancelled.
