Brown – There’s More To Come

Manager Phil Brown has said that our victory over Stevenage was a great win but he knows there’s still a lot more to come from us in the future.

A solid two nil victory thanks to goals from Myles Weston and Ben Coker was more than enough to give us all three points, and make it six from six so far this campaign, and speaking to the Official Site Brown had particular praise for the goalscorers but also goalkeeper Daniel Bentley who pulled off a number of key saves in the game.

‘I didn’t think we had to dig out a win. After Daniel made a few good saves in the first half it was all us. We threw too much out in the second half but we had the job done when we put ourselves two nil clear. It was a great goal from Myles, you couldn’t ask for a better finish. Ben’s put the gap between us and the opposition. People did talk about the third goal at half time, but you don’t really need to mention that as we maintained the mentality.’

Brown goes on to say that effectively he felt we grounded out the second half and were solid enough, although it certainly wasn’t ‘fantastic’ football by that point, and in some senses two games in he says you are always looking for a rhythm to develop and we haven’t done that yet, but it’s only a matter of time before we do.

As for Bentley, Brown said he had grown up very quickly indeed and was continuing to take the chances, establishing himself as our No 1 as he has done, and it’s now two clean sheets for him but the pleasing thing especially is, even when he’s having a quiet game, he’s alert and on the ball – pulling off the saves he needs to as and when they come along – and Brown knows that keeping yourself motivated and focused in goal, when you haven’t got to do much, is the sign of a quality keeper and clearly he can only get better with age.
