Southend United are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Southend United in the three one victory over Scunthorpe United at the weekend at Roots Hall was enough to earn Brown a place as manager of the most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Brown was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Southend`s home fixture with Scunthorpe United marked Brown`s 200th game in charge of the club, and he couldn`t have asked for a better result to mark the occasion. The league-leading Iron led early on, but they were knocked off their perch as the Blues launched a fine comeback to win 3-1, move into the top six, and earn the EFL Result of the Day.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Brown for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.

Full Team:

James McKeown (Grimsby Town), Cheick Keita (Birmingham City), Jake Cooper (Millwall), Peter Clarke (Oldham Athletic), Michael Hefele (Huddersfield Town), Mitchell Dijks (Norwich City), David Vaughan (Nottingham Forest), John Fleck (Sheffield United), David Wheeler (Exeter City), Tom Lawrence (Ipswich Town), Matty Godden (Stevenage).

Manager – Phil Brown (Southend United).
