Phil Brown, and he told the Echo as much this week, is well aware Daniel Bentley would be disappointed if he didn’t get a QPR move, however it’s looking like he could miss this chance with Alex Smithies set for the Championship side?

Huddersfield’s Smithies’ pending move to QPR looks like it’ll end Bentley’s chances of a move to Loftus Road and Brown says, as disappointed as Bentley would be, he’ll be delighted himself!

The ‘keeper, with QPR’s most recent offer of £1.25m turned down, is ‘a key part’ of the Blues bosses future plans and he’s said he doesn’t want to lose him.

‘I’m sure Daniel will be disappointed if QPR bring in another goalkeeper instead of him but it would be music to my ears if that happened.

‘He’s a key part of what we’re trying to achieve here and I want him to stay.’

Until QPR do sign that alternative ‘keeper there’s always a worry isn’t there! As is the worry if it’s not QPR it’ll be someone else looking to sign him….

After the Walsall defeat on Saturday, but ahead of the Doncaster draw at the Keepmoat Stadium on Wednesday, Brown also commented on a foot injury to Noel Hunt.

This meant he couldn’t get his boot on so missed that match as he did Donny too.

He, also speaking in the Echo, rued the fact we missed him for the Saddlers game yet felt a one booted Hunt would have done better than those on display!

‘It caused him a problem and he couldn’t get his boot on because of it.

‘But after watching that game I think I would’ve taken Noel with one boot on because that would’ve been an improvement on what we were like.’

Will Hunt be back for the weekend and will Bentley still be at Roots Hall? We’ll be hoping for a tick in both columns!
