The Football League took to social media recently to gauge fans thoughts on who would make up the best Football League Emerging XI.

Southend’s maybe want-away keeper Daniel Bentley featured heavily in the fan vote following his performances last season across his 47 games, which included a record number of Roots Hall consecutive clean-sheets and exploits at Wembley as the club won Play Off Promotion into League One.

Having made his debut back in 2011-12 against Torquay – his only appearance of the year – his real breakthrough came the following season where he got into double figures. Across his few years with us since coming through the youth ranks he now has a total of 112 appearances between the sticks – only three of which are from the substitutes bench.

The full eleven as decided upon by the fans.
