Britt Assombalonga is enjoying a highly prolific loan spell with Southend thus far, and as such he wants to stay longer.
The Watford strikers loan is due to expire this weekend but the 19-year-old, as he told the official website, is keen to extend this spell: ‘I don’t mind staying. I am a Southend player at the moment and I’ll speak to the gaffer about what happens next.
‘I want to play football, score goals and get 90 minutes under my belt each week so this is a good place to do that.’
So far Assombalonga has notched four goals in six outings for The Shrimpers.
Extending his loan spell is almost certainly going to be in the best interests of the player himself, Watford and of course Southend so I’d expect an extension to be agreed.
